City of Gainesville 2025 Municipal Election & Qualifying Fees

2025 Municipal Election

The City of Gainesville will hold its regularly scheduled election Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, to address the following seats: Mayor of Gainesville; Gainesville City Council, wards 1 and 4; and Gainesville City Board of Education, districts 1 and 4. All municipal elections are nonpartisan. They are conducted in accordance with the Constitution of the State of GeorgiaGeorgia Election Code, City Charter and the City Code of Ordinances. Election services are provided by the Hall County Board of Elections & Registration, and Hall County Board of Registrar's Office via an intergovernmental agreement.

Important notice

A special election will be held in conjunction with the Municipal General Election to address the Gainesville City Council, Ward 2 seat; and Gainesville City Board of Education, District 2 seat. Learn more here

Qualifications for office

  • Georgia Constitution Article II. Section II. Paragraph III
  • City Charter sections 2.12 and 7.22

Qualifying fees

  • Mayor - $1,200
  • Council member, wards 1 and 4 - $765
  • Board of Education member, districts 1 and 4 - $360

Qualifying period: Aug. 18-20, 2025

The City Clerk's Office will receive qualifying documents and fees during this time.
